The transition of the Skee-Ball business into the hands of seasoned amusement industry professionals was almost certainly a key survival factor for Skee-Ball. One of the reasons Skee-Ball was able to weather the storm was the deep pockets and professional resources of its new management. Holding massive Skee-Ball tournaments in 1932, with huge cash prizes, generated even more excitement. It also made the game even more attractive to strapped contestants, who were motivated to practice their skills in order to have a shot at big money, as well as smaller prizes.
